Lisa L. Williams, M.Div., BCC, BSN	Clinical Chaplain for Oncology	Chaplain Lisa formerly served as the Cardiology and Palliative Care Chaplain for Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, prior to accepting her present role in June of 2023 as the Clinical Chaplain for Oncology at UNC Health Cancer Center. She believes there is power in connecting comfort to care and has developed a passion for journeying at the end of life with patients, families, and staff. She is the first oncology chaplain to include outpatient care in her clinical service line; partnering with the Comprehensive Cancer Support Program and Patient Family Resource Center to efficiently reach this patient population. Chaplain Lisa currently serves on the UNC Hospital Ethics Committee and Schwartz Rounds Planning Committee. She has been able to integrate experience as a professional nurse with her scope of practice as a clinical chaplain to educate and guide members of the interdisciplinary team in coming to terms with their grief; emphasizing that grief wherever acquired must have intentional space to be felt, processed and managed.

Learning Objectives:

Explore why grief is inherent in clinical trials, along with the multiple ways Disenfranchised Grief (not openly acknowledged, socially sanctioned, or publicly mourned) can lead to moral distress, compassion fatigue, and organizational disconnection
Identify coping strategies to promote resilience and sustainability to cultivate a healthy work-life balance
Inspire intentional practices to foster peer support and team-based support, shifting culture, and honoring loss
