A Night to Write is a virtual professional development series designed to support faculty and postdoctoral scholars through protected writing time and engaging in a supportive writing community. Each session will offer a specific scholarly writing theme, individual writing time with opportunities for discussion and feedback from experienced facilitators and peers.
What to Expect
Writing themes aligned with common academic writing goals
Dedicated time for individual writing in a virtual setting
Opportunities to share drafts, ask questions, and exchange feedback
Connection with peers and facilitators to support writing momentum
Sessions follow a consistent structure:
Brief opening to introduce the session’s theme and goals
Extended off-camera writing time for concentrated work
Dedicated time for reflection, feedback, and next steps
Objectives By participating in the Night to Write series, participants will be able to:
Increase scholarly writing productivity by engaging in protected writing time.
Gain peer and facilitator support for common writing challenges, including accountability, motivation, and navigating the academic writing process.
Advance works in progress such as grant proposals, manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and book chapters, through focused writing and informal feedback.
Target Audience: Faculty at all ranks, postdoctoral scholars, and individuals seeking structured writing time, accountability, and peer support for scholarly writing
