The AAC Student Team is partnering with Campus Recreation/Carolina Adventures to bring you a reading day Forest Bath on Tuesday, April 29th from 1-3pm in Battle Park.
Forest Bathing (Shinrin-yoku) is a form of mindfulness that originated in Japan. Unlike many forms of mindfulness that center on the individual's flow of consciousness, Forest Bathing also intentionally works to reconnect the person with the natural world.
For this session we will start with some simple breathing exercises. From there, we will move slowly through the forest concentrating on our senses. We will listen for birds and other sounds in the forest. Feel the trail under our feet. Hold a rock in our hands and feel it's weight and texture. Pick a leaf and crush it to smell it. After making a short circuit we will end with finding a spot along the creek. We will sit for 20 minutes and try to take in the forest around us.
The event begins at 1pm sharp at Forest Theater so please do not be late.
