This required in-person orientation session is designed for all coordinators and research assistants new to the Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC) prior to using CTRC services. The session provides general training with information specific to conducting research visits at the CTRC. Topics include scheduling visits in CTRC Scheduler; creating documentation for nurse-intensive visits such as study-specific flow sheets and Epic orders; use of the processing lab in Room 1035; requesting simple phlebotomy draws; CTRC hours of operation and badge access procedures; and brief overviews of services offered by the NC TraCS Institute, UNC Radiology, and UNC Health’s Metabolic Nutrition Research Core and meal delivery services. The session consists of a lecture presentation followed by a guided walkthrough of the unit.
Orientation sessions are held twice a month, typically on the first Monday and the third Wednesday, with adjustments made during weeks that include university-designated holidays. Attendance is required for only one session.
