As a mentee, it’s important to be proactive in developing your relationships with mentors. Perhaps you have thought about potential mentors but don’t know where to start. How do you establish those initial relationships, and what are good strategies to engage mentors?

This interactive Professional Development Workshop for Early-Career Faculty is based on the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research’s Mentoring Up curriculum. Participants will identify steps to take to engage with potential mentors, sponsors, and other support. Participants will also develop and practice skills for connecting and communicating with potential mentors.

Early-career faculty, fixed-term and tenure-track, are welcome to attend. We especially encourage early-career faculty participants from our Peer Mentoring Circles program to attend.

Attendees are encouraged to register for a follow-up workshop, It Takes a Network: Developing Your Mentoring Network (Dec. 4, 2024), which will build on the lessons in this session.

The workshop is sponsored by the Center for Faculty Excellence. To learn more about the CFE, visit https://cfe.unc.edu.
