Professional Development Workshop for Early-Career Faculty
Understanding Promotion and Tenure Requirements
Wednesday, April 10, 2024 2:00 to 3:30 PM via Zoom (link shared via email)
Early-career faculty are invited to attend this interactive session about understanding requirements for earning promotion or tenure.
The session will feature a presentation about promotion and tenure led by Dr. Giselle Corbie, Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs. Participants will then join smaller groups for informal conversations with experienced faculty regarding tenured and fixed-term promotion processes in different divisions. We will include faculty perspectives for both the academic (e.g., the College) and health affairs (e.g., School of Medicine) areas of campus.
All early-career faculty are welcome, whether pre-tenure or fixed-term. Early-career faculty participating in TEAM ADVANCE Peer Mentoring Circles are especially encouraged to attend.
The workshop will be offered in partnership with the Center for Faculty Excellence, Office of Faculty Affairs, and Targeting Equity in Access to Mentoring (TEAM) ADVANCE.
The session will be virtual. Upon registration, participants will receive a confirmation email and an Outlook invitation that includes the Zoom link. Please direct questions to Joanna Helene Foland (jfoland@email.unc.edu), Faculty Development Consultant, or Tim Smith (timsmith@unc.edu), Mentoring Program Coordinator.
