Center for Faculty Excellence and Targeting Equity in Access to Mentoring (TEAM) ADVANCE
Spring 2024 Faculty Mentor Training
CFE Mentoring and TEAM ADVANCE promote a culture of equitable, accessible, and effective faculty mentoring across campus and across social identities. Our TEAM ADVANCE Faculty Mentor Training is a six-part interactive series for faculty seeking to enhance their mentoring skills, particularly in mentoring junior faculty. The core curriculum emphasizes equitable and intersectionality-informed mentoring skills and practices to support mentees of diverse backgrounds and experiences. The curriculum is adapted from the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research's (CIMER) nationally recognized Entering Mentoring program.
Sessions include guided discussion, evidence-based practices, case studies and activities. Participants will gain access to workshop and mentoring resources through Canvas. All faculty (tenure- and fixed-term tracks) are invited to register. Registration is for all six sessions in Spring 2024. Following registration, participants will receive Outlook calendar invitations with meeting location information for each workshop.
The Spring 2024 training will begin in-person January 12, 2024, to foster a cohort experience. The third and final sessions will be in person to encourage networking; the three remaining sessions will be held virtually. All sessions are two hours and will be held Fridays, 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
