Speaker:
Dr. Joan Taylor is a Professor in the UNC Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, where she served as the Vice Chair for Research from 2014-2023. She is also the Associate Dean of Faculty Advancement within the UNC Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development. Dr. Taylor has served in numerous leadership roles for over 20 years at the UNC School of Medicine, including several years as associate director of the McAllister Heart Institute. She leads school-wide efforts to clarify and streamline various issues about Advancement, Promotion, and Tenure (APT). Dr. Taylor is a UNC Institute of Arts and Humanities' Academic Leadership Program graduate. She earned her BS and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and completed her post-doctoral fellowship training at the University of Virginia.
