Bio:

David Liu is a veteran general counsel and technology lawyer based in Silicon Valley.  Over more than two decades, he has built and managed legal teams for a variety of rapidly innovating companies.  A native of Raleigh, he’s a proud member of the Carolina Class of 1995.  David earned his JD from Harvard Law School.

Currently, David is the VP of Legal and Partnerships for Sounding Board, a technology startup in the leadership development space. He previously served as the General Counsel of Coursera (the online education company), Clever (a digital learning platform that serves 65% of US K-12 schools), and Essential Products (maker of the Essential Phone).  David was also previously an Associate General Counsel at Google, where he had the dubious honor of drafting the first Terms of Service for Gmail.

David and his wife, Deborah, reside in Palo Alto, CA, with their three children.  His oldest is now a high school junior, so he has great familiarity with the rigors of the modern college admissions process.  David volunteers with Menlo Church and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Intervarsity Christian Fellowship.
