Join the Ackerman Center for Excellence in Sustainability (ACES) to celebrate this year's award winners and our graduating class of MBA students who concentrate in sustainable enterprise. The UNC Sustainability Awards recognize leadership and best practice for three winners: An established and entrepreneurial North Carolina business that shows innovation, initiative and impact in sustainability, as well as a Kenan-Flagler Distinguished Alumnus in Sustainability. For the business awards, our Business Leadership in Sustainability (BLiS) Associates research businesses and use the frameworks we teach to propose their top choices, and the Kenan-Flagler MBA Net Impact Chapter choose the winners from the pool of nominees. For the alumni award, the winner is selected by an internal process weighing leadership and engagement in sustainability. The event provides an opportunity for innovators to share their stories and be recognized by the Kenan-Flagler Business School's Ackerman Center for Excellence in Sustainability at this reception and networking event featuring heavy appetizers (vegan and vegetarian options available), beer, wine and signature non-alcoholic drink.
Your ticket also includes the Student-Athlete Sustainability Initiative Showcase from
2:30 - 4:30 PM preceding the awards at the same venue, which will feature speakers working at the intersection of sustainability and sports. This year's distinguished speakers include
Bennett Wetch, Sr. Director of Sustainability Analytics at
Nike, and
John Hwang, CEO of
PLANLED! This showcase also highlights ACES programming that provides student-athletes with opportunities for development and experience in social and environmental impact through business.
