Mindful Movement for Chronic Pain and Tension

In these four sessions live online course, you will experience an integrated approach to muscular tension management that combines mindfulness, yoga, neuroscience, and physical

therapy-inspired techniques. In addition, you will learn embodied and experiential movement practices to explore the complexity of persistent bodily tension and discover self-care tools that can be used to offer relief in your daily life.

Monday evenings, March 27 through April 17, 2023, via Zoom from 6-7 PM EST.

Week One: Releasing low back and hip tension, Monday, 3/27/23, 6-7 PM EST

Week Two: Calming the nervous system to release tension, Monday, 4/3/23, 6-7 PM EST

Week Three: Releasing neck and shoulder tension, Monday, 4/10/23, 6-7 PM EST

Week Four: Pulling it all together, Monday, 4/17/23, 6-7 PM EST


*$150 for four sessions, recordings of the practices to do at home, a home exercise program, and a recording of the mindfulness practices.

*Includes access to recordings for one month after the series ends

Yoga Alliance continuing education credits are available for yoga teachers (for live attendance only)

Learning Objectives

*Learn easily implemented mindfulness-based practices to release tension

*Learn how to develop a deeper, more respectful relationship with your own body

*Cultivate and learn ways to express compassion toward your body, mind, and spirit

*Recognize postures, movement patterns, or internal/external stress that impacts your physical and emotional well-being

*Participate in intentional, mindful yoga designed around contemporary anatomical, biomechanical and physiological knowledge

Whitney & Laura are co-founders and lead trainers of the Lead with Compassion Yoga Teacher Training Program, hosted by the UNC Program on Integrative Medicine.

Whitney is a National Board-Certified Health & Wellness coach in leadership development focusing on behavioral change and compassion-based interventions. Laura Terry, Master's in Physical Therapy, BA in Exercise and Sport Science, ERYT 200, Yoga Educator, and Balance Through Movement Founder

A Physical Therapist since 1998 and a yoga instructor since 2008, Laura Terry combines the science of Physical Therapy and yoga's mind/body integration in her teaching. Laura has her private practice of Yoga and Physical Therapy in Chapel Hill. Learn more here about Laura and her practice.
