Thank you for registering for AFIRM Module: Ayres Sensory Integration® for 2 Continuing Education units (CEs).
This online self-paced module is designed for professionals who work with and/or support autistic learners and their families in a variety of learning environments.
In this AFIRM module, Ayres Sensory Integration, professionals will learn the basics of this practice, as well as how to plan for, use, and monitor the evidence-based practice. Ayres Sensory Integration are interventions that target a person’s ability to integrate sensory information (visual, auditory, tactile, proprioceptive, and vestibular) from their body and environment in order to respond using organized and adaptive behavior.
The evidence-base at this time only supports Ayres Sensory Integration®. Ayres Sensory Integration® requires specialized training with a certified provider to implement with fidelity. This training is most commonly completed by Occupational Therapists and, in some cases, other licensed therapists. This module is not intended to replace training in ASI and the certification process, but rather, to introduce basic knowledge of ASI as an evidence-based practice for learners with autism.
