This half day course on 12 lead ECG training is brought to you by the NC TraCS CTRC. The goals of the course are to provide a basic overview of ECG physiology, selecting appropriate equipment used to perform an ECG, discuss the importance of correct electrode placement and describe the conditions that may cause ECG artifacts. The course will consist of lecture, hands-on learning, an exam, and skills test. To successfully complete the course you must attend the full session, pass the exam, and successfully perform at least one 12 lead ECG on a standardized patient. Interpretation of a 12 lead ECG, ability to make a medical diagnosis based on the 12 lead ECG and performing 12 lead ECG on participants under the age of 2 years old are not covered in this training.

Please note that students will practice placing electrodes on a manikin and a standardized patient. Students will not be required to practice electrode placement on each other. Completion of this course does not qualify attendees as licensed personnel or result in a certification (such as a certified ECG technician). Attendees who successfully complete the course will be provided with a certificate of completion to document 12 lead ECG training.

Cost:  $80

Date:  October 28th, 11 am - 3:30 pm
