The Office of the Dean of Students, through the Carolina Veterans Resource Center, offers Green Zone training multiple times each semester. This training is designed to provide UNC faculty and staff with an overview of what military life is like, and explain the unique challenges student veterans face when transitioning out of military service and into a large public university. Topics we cover include academic, cultural, financial, and mental health challenges this student population often faces, and best practices for faculty and staff. People who complete Green Zone are not expected to be experts, but rather be an empathetic ear and an ally who can help the student veterans find the appropriate resources to overcome barriers they may encounter.
Our Meeting will be over Zoom, and the link is:https://unc.zoom.us/my/rp.unc

Please complete the two training modules: "Veteran 101: DOD Overview" and "15 things Veterans would like you to know." You will need to create an account. This section of the training should take less than 30 minutes to complete and you can finish it at your own pace. Transcripts can be accessed from the “My Learning Tab” where you can print and save as a pdf file if you wish. The website offers more training modules, however, you only need to complete these two modules.
