Approximately 1.9 million academics use LinkedIn as a networking tool and as an alternative place to list CV material. While the number of academics on Twitter is not quite so high, in recent years, both PhD students and young academics have flocked to Twitter as a way to brand themselves and connect with audiences beyond their universities. Facebook has active groups for academics as well. In this session, we’ll discuss how to be a social media savvy academic.  We’ll talk about building relationships via social media as well as personal branding in the social media space.
