Queers Read This!: A Call to Action Presentation and Discussion by Dr. Terri Phoenix
“How can I tell you. How can I convince you, brother, sister that your life is in danger: That everyday you wake up alive, relatively happy, and a functioning human being, you are committing a rebellious act. You as an alive and functioning queer are a revolutionary. “–excerpt from Queers Read This
Queers Read This was an anonymous leaflet first distributed at the NY Pride March in June 1990 and later at actions and marches all over the country. It inspired a generation to be visible, militantly demand our rights, and be unapologetic about our existence as queer people. Dr. Phoenix will discuss some of the major themes found in this document and will share how it inspired T as a young activist and continues to keep a fire burning for the work T has made T’s life.
Zoom link will be sent out on the day of the event.
