Finding a faculty mentor is key to a graduate student's training, progress, and success. This workshop will prepare participants to identify key aspects of a mentoring relationship that they value, develop skills and attributes to succeed with different types of mentoring styles, and provide perspectives from a panel of current graduate students. Mentoring conventions in different academic disciplines will be highlighted through discussions and case studies. All graduate students are welcome to attend, especially those with diverse identities (first-generation, racially/ethnically diverse, international, LGBTQIA, and military-affiliated). Students are also encouraged to sign up for the Effective Mentoring Series offered through the Professional Development Program.  Sponsored by The Graduate School's Professional Development program, Diversity and Student Success, and CIRTL at UNC Chapel Hill.
