Have you ever been perplexed by how our NC child welfare system functions? In this presentation, we’ll review the statutes that define child maltreatment in NC, examine the structure of county Division of Social Services (DSS) agencies that respond to maltreatment reports, and explore how decisions are made within our child welfare system.
Amy Levine, MSW, LCSW is a Clinical Instructor at the UNC School of Social Work. Amy has a clinical background in public and private child welfare practice and mental health treatment with adults, children, and families. She works in the field education program at the School of Social Work and teaches courses in child welfare and mental health practice.
