Exploring Science Journalism via the AAAS Mass Media Fellowship

Come join journalist Yen Duong as she discusses the transition from her Ph.D. in mathematics to work as a full-time writer. Come prepared with questions about the journalism industry, the fellowship, and freelancing. Yen Duong finished her PhD in mathematics from University of Illinois at Chicago in 2017. Her research was in the field of geometric group theory, where she applied new techniques of cubulation to random groups, a field from the 1980s. In 2018, Yen became a AAAS Mass Media Science and Engineering Fellow and is currently writing for the Raleigh News and Observer.
