The Carolina Health Informatics Program and the Program on Health & Clinical Informatics invite you to attend the Health Data Analytics, Governance and Assessment Symposium April 20, 2018 at the UNC Friday Center 8:30AM - 3:00PM.

This symposium will examine the topic of health data analytics accessibility and the role that government plays in personal data privacy. The symposium's plenary speaker will be Aaron McKethan, PhD, Co-Founder & Executive Vice President, Strategy & Business Development of RxAnte, Inc., Assistant Adjunct Professor of Health Policy and Management at the Gilling's School of Global Public Health, a Resident Scholar at the Margolis Center for Health Policy at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, and Chief Data Officer at NC Department of Human Health Services. Dr. McKethan's work focuses on healthcare delivery innovation, data and information technology.  After Dr. McKethan's presentation, a panel discussion will follow, which will include Don Turner, Global Commercial Head, IBM Watson Health, Vaughn Paunovich, CIO, Optum, Ashok Krishnamurthy, Deputy DIR, RENCI, and Brian Cooper, HHS, NC.

The plenary talk will be followed by a panel of government, industry and academic leaders discussing the theme of the symposium: data analytics accessibility and governance. The afternoon will consist of three interactive, concurrent workshops:

 2) An Ontology for Patient Generated Health Data with Robert Furberg, PhD, MBA
