The Center for Faculty Excellence, Katya Pertsova (Department of Linguistics), and Becky Butler (the Writing Center) are pleased to present a workshop for graduate students on inclusive teaching. The Sounds of Diversity: Addressing Regional Dialects Through Inclusive Teaching workshop will take place in 304 Wilson Library on October 26th from 3:00-4:30pm.

In this workshop we will discuss issues surrounding linguistic diversity in the classroom, particularly the challenges and opportunities it presents for teaching. We will examine the notion of linguistic “standards” as applied to written and spoken language, and consider tools that promote inclusive teaching in the context of diverse dialects, accents, writing and speaking styles. All graduate students are invited to attend this interactive workshop.
