Carolina Wilderness Med Core Lecture Series

The UNC Wilderness Medicine Program is excited to launch the Carolina Wilderness Med Core, a new annual four-part lecture series designed to introduce learners to the foundational principles of wilderness medicine.

This series offers a broad and accessible introduction to the unique challenges of practicing medicine when resources are limited, and definitive care may be hours or even days away.

Through four interactive modules offered throughout the academic year, participants will gain a practical understanding of wilderness medicine concepts including patient assessment, trauma management, environmental emergencies, and decision-making in remote settings.

Each session is designed to build upon the previous module while remaining approachable for newcomers to the field.
