International postdocs and graduate students are invited to join a dynamic roundtable conversation designed to clarify inquiries about the U.S. academic track and landscape. This session brings together retired faculty members from a variety of disciplines to share their insights, experiences, and practical advice for scholars navigating academic career paths in the United States. During this career development roundtable, participants will explore a wide range of questions—whether related to tenure track, research expectations, career progression in the U.S. system, mentorship dynamics, networking strategies, or other aspects of academic life. To ensure a robust conversation, registrants will be asked to submit initial inquiries at the time of registration.

Following the panel, attendees are invited to an informal networking luncheon to continue conversations and build connections with retired faculty members and colleagues.

This roundtable career development session is facilitated in partnership with ISSS, the Retired Faculty and Professionals Association, The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, and the International Postdoc Alliance. This event is intended for international scholars and graduate students. There is limited space available, you are encouraged to register early. In the event we reach capacity for this event, priority to attend will be given to international postdocs, and UNC Graduate Students in their last year at UNC.

If you experience challenges when registering for this event please email our program coordinator, Annie Lundeen at annielundeen@unc.edu.
