This interactive workshop will explore the foundation of successful mentoring relationships through the development of clear expectations and formal mentoring agreements. Drawing from research on effective mentoring practices, participants will engage in collaborative activities to identify expectations, share common challenges and develop practical strategies for establishing key components of mentoring agreements. Through case study analysis and hands-on exercises, attendees will examine real-world scenarios that highlight the importance of explicit communication and mutual understanding. This workshop provides actionable insights for both faculty seeking to enhance their mentoring approach and graduate students looking to maximize their mentoring experience. 

Priority enrollment will be given to doctoral candidates in their second or third year of study. This workshop is offered as part of the Graduate Student Experience Initiative.
