From October 16-19, 2025 The Mercurian: A Theatrical Translation Review, in collaboration with the Process Series, the Department of Dramatic Art, and Language Acts and Worldmaking at King’s College, London will hold a conference/festival on theatrical translation as creative process.  Staged readings of four translated plays that have been published in The Mercurian:  The Bacchae, translated by Emma T. Pauly from Ancient Greek; Ladies translated by Ieva Lakute from Latvian; OH!, translated by Cobina Gillit from Indonesian; and Flood Zone, translated by Hilary Gardner from Catalan, with the translators in attendance will be presented.  As in past iterations, the conference will follow the  Open Space model in which there are no pre-arranged panels or papers and all discussions are generated by the participants themselves.  Time will be provided for cold readings of portions of new translations, among other events.  Full schedule to follow.  All events will take place at UNC-Chapel Hill.
