Join SPAG and the Science Writing and Communications Club for an informal journal club with discussion on 1) how to read policy (e.g., budgets, legislation) 2) how science policy is communicated in popular media. This journal club will focus on health policy and specifically NC's recent Medicaid expansion bill, looking at the language used in actual policy text, to news articles, to opinion pieces. Treats from Epilogue provided! Space limited.
Articles will be emailed out in advance of the journal club, but include: - NC Health News summary of budget - Kaiser Family Foundation review of literature on impacts of medicaid expansion for reproductive health - Blog post about healthcare policies and party politics
