Physician/Provider Retreat: Compassion & Mindful Movement for Stress Management
Led by Balance Through Movement, hosted by UNC Program on Integrative Medicine
Description
In this day-long retreat, you will learn to use evidence-based compassion & mindful movement practices to support burnout prevention and recovery and help you feel more compassionate and empowered to care for yourself and your patients. These practices combine guided relaxation and breath practices, gentle yoga, physical therapy-inspired techniques that you can use for your well-being, and simple methods to offer your clients and patients. Appropriate for individuals prepared to participate and observe in a full day of gentle movement and restorative practices.
No yoga experience is required.

Whitney and Laura are co-founders and lead trainers of Lead with Compassion Yoga Teacher Training hosted by UNC's Program on Integrative Medicine. Stephen is a Balance Through Movement Certified Yoga Teacher and a pediatric intensive care physician.

With a focus on behavioral change and compassion-based interventions, Whitney is a National Board Certi?ed Health & Wellness coach and inter-faith chaplain. Laura Terry, Master's in Physical Therapy, BA in Exercise and Sport Science, ERYT 200, Yoga Educator, and Balance Through Movement Founder
A Physical Therapist since 1998 and a yoga instructor since 2008, Laura Terry combines the science of Physical Therapy and yoga's mind/body integration in her teaching. Laura has her private practice of Yoga and Physical Therapy in Chapel Hill. Learn more here about Laura and her practice.
Stephen Leinenweber, MD, RYT-200
A pediatric critical care physician since 1999, Stephen uses yoga to create a mind-body connection to replenish and renew himself to bring a more creative, thoughtful, and compassionate being to his work. He is currently the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at PM Pediatric Care.

- Hospitalization within the last 6 months for any psychiatric reasons
- Medically unstable situation
- Problem with alcohol or drug abuse
- Anger management issues that could potentially be disruptive to the group
- Suicidal fantasies
