Do you love science? Are you looking for a writing career? Join us for an informative presentation on how medical writers contribute to scientific communication and drug development! The UNC office of Postdoctoral Affairs is hosting Abigail Agoglia, PhD, Medical Writer and Consultant at Whitsell Innovations, Inc. (WI). WI is a certified woman-owned, full-service medical writing company headquartered in Chapel Hill, NC. Dr. Agoglia will be speaking about the scope of career opportunities available in medical communications. She will address medical writing for pharmaceutical, biotech, and device companies, including the documentation required for submissions to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) during the pre-clinical and clinical development process. The presentation will provide an overview of potential careers for scientists that combine scientific acumen and writing skills. She will also address how industry clients use medical writers to share clinical data in manuscripts, training materials, and presentations.

After discussing the role of medical writers, Dr. Agoglia will discuss the WI Internship Program. Now in its 14th year, this opportunity is an 18-month, part-time, paid internship available to researchers who are interested in a career in the life sciences.
