In 2022, twenty-three states, including North Carolina, brought over 200 pieces of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation to the desks of their governing bodies. Thirteen of those states have since signed their bills into law. On September 13th, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, the LGBTQ Center at UNC Chapel Hill is hosting an open panel to discuss the long and short-term effects this type of legislation has had on the broader LGBTQ+ community, and the impact it has on the rights and freedoms of our future. The panel will be led by speakers such as Dr. Dorothy Espelage (she/her) and Dr. Cheryl Woods Giscombe (she/her), and it will be moderated by the LGBTQ Center director, Dr. Terri Phoenix (T or he/him). At the end of the panel, the floor will be open for participants to ask questions of the panel speakers and give voice to their own experiences with anti-LGBTQ+ legislation.
