Dr.  Jean Mankowski, Clinical Psycholologist with the Carolina Institute on Developemental Disabilities, will review how experiences of trauma manifest in individuals with I/DDs and go over important modifications for assessing and treating resulting mental health and trauma reactions.
 
The goals for this Community Talk are for the attendees to:

1.     Develop a better understanding of types of trauma and how trauma manifests in individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DDs)

1.     Learn about the nuances of trauma assessments in individuals with I/DDs

2.     Consider evidence-based practices to address trauma response and behavioral health needs in individuals with I/DDs from early childhood through adulthood


Dr. Mankowski is a licensed psychologist and Clinical Assistant Professor who has practiced at the CIDD for 15 years.  She specializes in the assessment and treatment of individuals with behavioral and/or psychiatric difficulties in the context of neurodevelopmental disability.
