The primary objective of this conference is to provide information to professionals and parents about Theory of Mind and interdisciplinary collaboration for children who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Attendees will be able to:
Recall the impact of Theory of Mind (ToM) on literacy comprehension
Create a lesson plan with a children’s book to target ToM at 3 different levels of ToM development
Identify barriers and opportunities for development of ToM social skills in children with hearing loss
Use new ideas to strengthen the development of ToM and social skills in everyday activities
Explain how interdisciplinary collaboration was used to approach difficult cases
Recognize audiological red flags signaling when an interdisciplinary approach may be necessary
Consider factors that can influence performance with a cochlear implant
Appreciate the most common diagnoses identified on imaging in the pediatric hearing loss patient
Understand the diagnostic implications of imaging in the pediatric cochlear implant patient
