Date/Time: Thurs, Sept 29, 7 pm and Friday, Sept 30, 8 am-5 pm

Location: UNC Friday Conference Center, Chapel Hill, NC

Registration Cutoff date: Friday, Sept 16

Summary:

The Sports Medicine Institute is a new Institute at UNC that is dedicated to providing active patients with the highest quality of care and conducting world-class quality research. This new Institute is a joint effort between multiple clinical and research-focused Departments and Centers across the University. You can learn more at our website:  https://www.med.unc.edu/uncsportsmedicineinstitute/

This year’s conference will focus on sports-related knee injuries which are unfortunately very common and costly. These injuries prevent athletes from participating in the sports they love and can result in long-term disability. The conference will share the latest research and recommendations related to knee injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation to keep athletes healthy and help them stay in the game.

All conference registrations include the Thursday evening reception, 6-8 pm, with keynote speaker. Attendees must select this option during the registration process.

Agenda:

Education sessions will include the following topics: knee injury prevention, surgical interventions, non-operative management, rehabilitation, and team approach to sports medicine. Each session will include multiple speakers and a moderated panel Q&A. Speakers include keynote speakers and UNC Chapel Hill faculty who are national and international experts on these topics and include orthopaedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, and sport science and rehabilitation researchers.

Audience:

Orthopaedic surgeons, sports medicine providers (physicians and APPs), physical therapists, athletic trainers, and exercise specialists. Continuing education application in process for CME, PT, and AT (BOC).

Cancellation Policy:

You may cancel your registration for a refund minus a $50 administration fee until August 31st. Beginning September 1, there will be no refunds; however, if you are unable to attend due to extenuating circumstances (i.e. quarantine due to COVID infection, natural disaster, death in family), registration fee can be carried forward to next year’s conference with approval. To request a refund or future credit, email UNCSMI@unchealth.unc.edu.
